We are Indians

We are Indians

(A skit for 5 minutes, by me for a school student,  as requested & presented by him and friends very successfully.)

(Mike:  WE ARE INDIANS.  On  the stage: 1.  Abhijith Gangadharan 2……. 3……. 4…….)

(Four students come to the stage keeping their hands over the shoulders of each other, smilingly.)

(Mike again: Here come the four friends – Prakash  Shankar, Rahim Abdullah, Thomas John and Sukesh Jain.)

(All the four sit on a bench, behind the desk facing the audience.)

PRAKASH:  So, today is August 15.  Till the bell rings for assembly, let’s sit here and chat.  (Smilingly) It’s good that we got freedom not to carry our books today being Independence Day!  Thank God!

ALL OTHERS:  (Smile) Yes, yes.

THOMAS:  It’s difficult if the freedom is too much.  That’s what we are experiencing.  Is n’t  it?

RAHIM:  It’s not like that.  Nobody should take advantage for the reason that we are free or we have freedom.

SUKESH: We fought against foreigners and gained independence. Our forefathers sacrificed their life for the same and it’s our duty to show them as to how we utilize the same meaningfully.

PRAKASH:  Exactly!  They did divide and rule us – with religion and cast discrimination. (Little loudly) Look at ourselves!  We hail from different religions.  So what?  Is there anything lacking in our friendship?

THOMAS:  You are right.  Nobody should think to separate us for that reason. (He draws cross from left shoulder to right shoulder and from head to stomach.)

RAHIM:  In a way, we, Indians are lucky.  Is n’t it?  How many languages, how many regions, how many religions and what a civilization and heredity, Oh, Allah.  Still, we are one.

SUKESH:      Of course, we are one and one only.

PRAKASH:  We are four, yaar (smile).

(ALL LAUGH)

THOMAS:  Knowledge is power.

RAHIM:  Unity is strength!

SUKESH:  Let’s come to the subject.

PRAKASH:  I like our patriotic songs much.

THOMAS: Who does not?

SUKESH:  Yes, We are Indians!

RAHIM:  sare jahan se accha  (To others: tells by action to sing together)

ALL: (By standing) sare jahan se accha hindostan hamara
ham bulbulain hai is ki, yeh gulsitan hamara

(At this time, the bell rings for assembly)

(ALL move from their seats and walk out as the same way they entered – but this time hand in hand singing:

sare jahan se accha hindostan hamara)

(Loudly)  JA I   H I N D   !

(CURTAIN)

Energy of Love

Energy of Love

(Poem)

Oh, my sweetheart, my darling,

Wherever you are, my mind

Will be with you to escort you;

I will see you in my inner mind;

I will hear your sweet voice;

I will smell your fragrance;

And, my lips to your beautiful lips

Will imprint the signs of kisses;

I, being thirsty of sacred love

Will hug you again and again;

I will pray for you always

As you are the partner of my life;

My all these soft feelings

Are the energy to lead me

Till I meet you next time;

May this energy of love

Fill within us at all times!

Love, Love and Love (Poem)

Love, Love and Love  (Poem)

I remember a poem
And, its name is ‘’Love’’
It was taken from a religious book
And, was taught by my teacher
Alas! I don’t remember it now
But, I did learn from my life –
When my mother hugged me,
When I sat on my father’s lap,
When I played with my siblings,
When my friends gave me company,
When I set up my family,
When my relatives loved me,
Moreover, when all and vice-versa
Loved – I knew very well that
There is no substitute for Love
And, so, LOVE, LOVE and LOVE
And,  BE LOVED by all!

‘’ KICHNA BHAGWAN ! ’’

‘’KICHNA BHAGWAN!’’                                   Kalyan (E)

(From my diary)                                          22.08.2011

Subsequent to the daily routine jobs, I started going through The Times of India.  I don’t have to go anywhere in the morning today – I confirmed myself and hence pulled out a chair to the balcony.  Sitting there, I went through the headlines of the newspaper.  Mostly, they were about Anna Hazare.

It’s drizzling outside.  I looked at the greenery at the hillside, garden attached to the park, Shiva Temple etc.  A very beautiful look indeed!  It’s almost empty at the Club House area.  There will be crowd in the evenings at that area and everywhere in the compound.

From the nearby Radhakrishna Temple, I could hear a devotional song. So sweet! For a moment, enjoying the music, I just imagined  Radhakrishna and Radhakrishna  leela in my mind.

‘’Darwaja kholo… Kichna Bhagwan’’

What?  I could not believe what I heard – So soon Krishna Bhagwan appeared for me! Was I dreaming?

No, it was voice of a small baby outside the front door.  The door was opened with the grill locked from inside.  It’s not Malootty – my granddaughter who is staying in Thakurli –I knew;  and went to the door.

‘’Grandpa, Kichna Bhagwan.’’

I see – it’s Srishti, the Bihari baby.  They are our neighbors.  Yes, I remember – her mother, Khushboo did tell yesterday that  today, as part of Janmashtami programs, Srishti will be one of the little Krishnas’ at the playschool nearby and Amma (my wife) also has to accompany them.

Srishti also calls me Grandpa as same as Malu.

I told them to come in telling that Amma (she calls so, same as Malu’s mother i.e. my daughter Priya) is in the bathroom.

At that time, Khushboo received a call to her mobile telephone and she started talking in Bhojpuri and went inside.  It could be her husband, I guessed.

Bhagwan started his (here, her) naughty actions – jumping, running here and there.

After a while, my wife entered there after finishing her bath.

‘’Idli and chutney are ready there in the kitchen. You may have it.  I will be late.’’

''OK, you carry on.''

Bhagwan and company made a move to the play school.

‘’Tata bolna Grandpa ko’’, Khushboo told Srishti.

‘’Grandpa, tata.’’

‘’Tata’’

I stood behind the door watching them at the lift till they disappear.

‘’ K i c h n a   B h a g w a n !’’ – I murmured smilingly and  then went back to the balcony to read  the newspaper again.

My Grandson

My Grandson

(Poem)

- Dr P Malankot

“Vinu calling’’, my mobile phone rings

What’s the matter – I became anxious

‘’Daddy, Priya delivered a baby boy’’ -

My son-in-law informs very happily!

I could not believe what I heard

‘’You mean, a baby boy?’’, I did ask

Vinu repeated, ‘’yes Daady, baby boy’’

Oh, am I lucky this much, I asked myself

I forgot to congratulate him, instead

I told him that I am very very glad!

I have two sisters, and two daughters

And, my daughter has a daughter too

This granddaughter is my beloved Malu

Still, I wished for a grandson to me

My Daddy was worried that I don’t have a son

For performing religious rites after my death!

I now murmured to his soul in my mind,

“Don’t worry dad, I now have a grandson

As I wished  and to fulfill your wish too!“

*On 5/2/2013, my daughter delivered a baby boy

and this is what I scribbled down with an excitement.

A tribute to my mother (Poem)

A tribute to my mother
( Published by Gulf Daily News in their Poet's Corner
on Saturday, September 12, 2009)
My mother is not alive - it's a fact,
but for me, it's still very hard to believe.
Memories about my mother never die,
And they will only die along with me.
What a wonderful creation you are
amongst all creations of the Almighty.
I feel your value when you are no more
than when you were alive in my world.
Though you weren't educated that much,
you did advise me as if you were my teacher.
And your words do lead me still,
whenever I lose my hope in life.
You were the one to love me.
And, you were the one to punish too.
You were the one to console me,
when you felt pity after punishing.
Once you told me not to worry,
when you or my father had to die.
My father's turn came first,
And then you left, leaving me an orphan.
Oh! mother, you were my strength
And, you are my strength still.
You are in my prayers forever,
I will continue same for the rest of my life.

A Pet Grandfather!

A Pet Grandfather!

(Poem)

This was published by Gulf Daily News.

Hey baby, I am your grandpa, but

My mind is still thirsty to be consoled!

When I feel sad as if in my childhood,

I wish to be hugged by my mum 'n' dad,

Though they are no more since long!

I would like to enjoy myself,

Forgetting all the worries of mine,

Though I am no more a child,

Not even a youth too, and

I have you people all to look after.

What a beautiful world was my childhood

That can’t come back in this life!

My baby, I know that you want to be consoled

As same as your mother by me.

Come on my darling, to hug me up

As I was also a pet baby of my parents,

And, let’s console ourselves each other!
